When I open a pattern I get an error saying "License Information Unavaliable".   What do I do?


Answer:  
Our software is designed to open patterns from a single patternsonline.com account. We do this to help protect the copyrights of the designers who publish patterns on our site. This protection keeps people from passing pattern files around. We know that most of our customers would not do this, but surly you can understand why we need to keep it from happening.

A license file is created on your computer that keeps track of your patternsonline.com account information. If this file gets removed, or becomes corrupted, you will not be able to open your patterns. It does not happen very often, but form time-to-time it does happen.

We added a new feature to the latest version of all our software products to let you resolve this problem should it occur on your computer. Now, if your software has trouble opening a copyrighted pattern, it allows you enter your PatternsOnline.com sign-in information, and reconfigures allowing you to instantly open your design. All that is required is an internet connection.

If you have this trouble, and your software is not prompting you to fix the trouble, all you need to do is update to the latest version of our software.

If you are using the Pattern Viewer:
Download the Pattern Viewer Installation File again. All you need to do is install it over the existing version on your computer. Afterwards, try to open your pattern again. You will get the message, but the new version of the software will allow you to fix it.

If you are using PCStitch, or PCStitch Lite:
Start the software and pick the “Check For Updates” option from the help menu. The latest version of our software will be downloaded and instantly installed. There is no charge for the update. Afterwards, try to open your pattern again. You wil get the error message, but the new software will allow you to fix it.
