Why so many pages??

I've bought several patterns here, but after I print them off, there are so many pages that I haven't even been able to make myself try to do one. I've looked over the patterns, only to find I lose my place entirely too easy. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to keep the pages together, keep your place, and give me an idea on starting a project and getting to finish it? I need real help. Thanks

Re: Why so many pages??

Hi, I design cross stitch patterns. Patterns created for download will have multiple pages, especially if they are large patterns as the patterns need to fit on pages sizes which can be printed at home. The easiest way is to lay the whole pattern out to find the middle of the page and then stitch that page first, stitching one whole page at a time helps. Also some people mark their fabric in the 10 stitches x 10 stitches grid to make it easier and some use highlighters as suggested. Hope this helps.

I also use the highlighter method. I first use a yellow one to mark the stitches I am about to do and then dot them over with a pink one. The finished stitches show orange on my chart. I find I have fewer miss counts and it is easier to find my place when I pick up my work again.

Re: Why so many pages??

I have done patterns that contain up to 49 pages.
My suggestion is to place your pattern on a table of floor, arranged in the proper way. Label your pages the way that you will be able to follow. Find the middle of your pattern(if you start there)and mark that.

I then use a Highlighter to mark on the pattern what I have stitched, so I can easily keep track of where I have been. NOTE: I always make a second copy of my pattern, so I can keep the original in tip top shape. I can then mark up my copy all I want, and if there's a problem I can still refer to the original.
